Baudette Bay, Baudette, MNGame 1: Eveleth-Gilbert 0, Lake of the Woods 5 Game 2: Blaine 0, Roseau 1
On February 9, 2008, for the second year in a row Fox Sports North went live with nearly 16 straight hours of hockey programming, including five games. This year, I decided to travel to Baudette and shoot the two games on the bay. The temperature at 9am was about 6 below and it continued to drop throughout the day, reaching about 10 below when the second game concluded. Wind was also a factor, as 20+ MPH winds created a windchill factor of over 40 below! Despite the bitter cold and the realization that after 6 hours outside I've never felt so cold in my life, this event was great fun to shoot and my equipment worked flawlessly. Next time I'll invest in some of those chemical hand and foot warmers!
